Comparisons with “as” always involve two items or two groups of items that are equal in some quality.

They often include “as [adjective] as”. For example, "Elina does well on all tests because she is as prepared as any other student in her class".

SAMPLE PRACTICE QUESTION FOR TWO-ITEM COMPARISONS WITH "AS"

While Aggie is more skeptical about the show than the
          (A)                            (B)
other cast members, she is willing to work just as hard,
or harder, towards it success than anyone else.
             (C)                                         (D)
        No Error
            (E)

Looking at choice (B), you can confirm that it is grammatically correct because it involves two groups (Aggie and the other cast members) that are unequal in their skepticism.

Choice (D), on the other hand, involves two groups that will work equally “hard”. Therefore choice (D) is grammatically incorrect and should be “as”.
